Diagonal Stripes Crochet Pillow Pattern

IMG_6929.jpeg

Perk up your couch and upgrade in an instant. This decorative pillow in diagonal stripes gives that subtle contemporary touch in your home decor. It'll give your space that nice pop of color and it accents your space effortlessly.

AND...... it's very easy to do. The only techniques you need to know is how to do single crochet and how to switch yarn colors. That's it!

YARN:

You can use any yarn you'd like. Best is medium weight (4) yarn. I like to use Red Heart Saver Solids, Red Heart Love, Lion Brand Vanna's Choice, Loops and Threads Impeccable Solids, Caron One Pound, Caron Soft, Paintbox, etc. Pretty much any medium weight yarn out there.

CROCHET HOOK: H/8 - 5.0mm

OTHER MATERIALS:

- darning needle (to weave ends)

- scissors

- 18" x 18" pillow insert

MEASUREMENT:

16" x 16" -   the reason why I suggested a 18" x 18" pillow insert so that the pillow will be nice, soft and chubby.

Each square represents one single crochet. This pattern starts after 70 chain foundation and it starts from right to left. It's very important to follow the direction to keep your line straight.

When you start the 70 chain foundation (actually its 71 chain then sc on the second chain from the hook) use the primary yarn color. In this case, we're using the burgundy color.

Also another note - always add a chain at the beginning of each row.

Since no one is going to see the back side because it's going to be inside the pillow, it doesn't have to look perfect. I would suggest not to crochet over the yarn of the contrast color because you don't want that contrast yarn to see through. In this case, I don't want the white yarn coming through the burgundy yarn and vice versa. It's pretty distracting. So this is what the back of my pattern looks like.

Once you're done, you can do the same for the back side. Or you can do my way. I crochet my pillows with a contrast back side. So it'll be reversible. I like the look of flip-it and you get a different style. In this case, I crochet a solid color of the primary yarn. Same 70 foundation count and seal it with a single crochet all around.
